THE BEAUTY OF SANTORINI, GREECE

Ohh Santorini... This island is probably the image we all have of Greece. From its huge cliff filled with white and blue painted houses, mess of curvy streets and staircases, extraordinary delicious greek food, breathtaking sunsets, and many more! I fell in love with this place because of so many reasons even only given a little time to explore. It was really a dream come true travel destination!

Santorini is a small island, but it’s filled with a variety of villages. Fira is the main town, located fairly centrally. This is also where all the cruise ships stays and if the same case as mine, from the cruise ship, we we're brought to Fira by riding a tender boat. From there, passengers can take the cable cars up to Fira or if you are brave enough, ride the donkeys. There's another one village and it's the famous among all the villages because it is where people come to Santorini, to explore the famous white village that dots postcards where you see the blue roof churches. This village is called Oia (pronounced EE-ah) and it’s at the northern tip of the island. Too bad, was not able to go there because lack of time, but Fira never disappointed me by its unique beauty.

We've only had 3 hours to make this trip happen. I know this is not enough especially during this high peak season, it's hard to take that instagrammable photos due to huge crowd, but good thing we still managed to take some! Me and my bestie got some skillzzz haha!

So, I told to my best friend this trip will not be complete if we will not try the donkey ride. At first we're both hesitating to do this but since this is only a once in a lifetime experience, we forgot our fear and rent a donkey to go up to Fira. We paid 20€ each donkey. Definitely worth the experience! Oh by the way, along the ride going up, there is someone who will take a photo of you and at the end someone will also show you the picture and will sell it for 14€.

Upon reaching the top, we started to walk around and look for a restaurant to eat our lunch.

We bumped into this restaurant (I forgot the name) and I ordered fried calamari, chicken wings and mocha frappe while my best friend ordered the traditional souvlaki.

Had a nice view of the Aegean Ocean while having our lunch. The cruise ship you see there is where I work, MSC SINFONIA.

After lunch, we continued to walk around and we finally found the perfect spot where we will take our pictures.

Matching dresses and metallic tattoos with the bestie

Going back to the ship, we found plenty of souvenir shops also along the way but it's a bit pricey. Instead, we just bought simple ref magnets since we've already started collecting them. We rode cable car only for 2€ instead of 10€ (perks of being a crew). That time we're already running late for our duty, good thing we didn't queue anymore for the cable car ride. Hope you enjoyed this travel diary. Only little time given but I really enjoyed this trip. Wish I could visit the Oia very soon!

Happy travels!
