A DAY IN THE MOST ROMANTIC CITY | VENICE, ITALY
Not all people are given the chance to travel the world for free. Some save and spend their money just to visit all the places they've been dreaming for a long time. Luckily, here I am because of my work (I work in a cruise ship), I am able to go and see my dream destinations from time to time. So, here's one of the places I've been wanting to visit for so long since I knew that our cruise ship will duct to Italy.
PIAZZA SAN MARCO, VENEZIA
(St. Mark's Square, Venice)
Venice is our home port so every week during our stay in Europe we are ducting to their port. I've tried a lot of times to go outside after my work but unfortunately my break time is not enough to go around the city. Luckily, there's this one guy (Italian, my boss, and now my boyfriend), who had finished his contract, he visited me and traveled from south to north of Italy just to see me for a few hours. With the help of him also, I got to be excused for my lunch time duty to spend more hours with him and to stroll around the city. (Now I have a lot of time haha!)
Going to Piazza San Marco, we rode a water taxi from Piazza Le Roma, the nearest square from the port. It is called water taxi because it's like you're traveling in a train where there are many stations or stop over depends on your destination but you're riding on a huge boat. Good thing he already bought all the tickets back and forth so we saved a lot of time and we didn't queue anymore for the tickets.
From Piazza Le Roma, we traveled 20-30 minutes to arrive at Piazza San Marco station. Upon arrival, we already saw many Gondolas - it's the famous means of transportation in Venetian canals for centuries. As we walk more towards Piazza San Marco, a lot of souvenir shops are lined along the street, uniformed building structures, and many tourists walking around.
Ahhh the gondolas of Venice... is there any more iconic symbol of this romantic city than these boats? While it's undeniably romantic, expect it to be expensive also. As we stroll around, we asked how much is the standard gondola, and it costs 80€.
St. Mark's Basilica
Meet the man who made this trip possible. Ciao Amore ♡
Venice was just a dream, and now I've been here. This is the perks of working in a cruise ship, you've got to visit all the beautiful places even the unknown ones for free! I forgot to tell also that it's also a perks traveling in Italy if you have an italian speaking buddy. Truly it's very romantic place plus I'm with the man I love while going around in this city. Hoping we can ride the gondola in our next visit here, I will save money for that!
Happy travels!
