NAGPATONG ROCK FORMATION | TANAY, RIZAL
After almost a year, I finally had the chance to go back to the hobby that gave me so much positivity in life - mountain climbing. Once again, being surrounded with our mother nature and good company is such a relief and I forgot all the negativities in life. I'm glad that I also introduced this hobby to my boyfriend and he loved it also. This is actually his first time but he really surprised me while we're climbing. He didn't seem tired, I never heard any complains, instead he enjoyed it and that also made me happy that he also liked my hobby. So, what to expect in Mt. Masungki & Nagpatong Rock Formation? Let me give you a quick overview:
Elevation: 660 MASL Difficulty: 4/9 with rock precautions Trail Class: 5 Days Required: 1 day Hours to Summit: 2.5-3 hours
We arrived at Brgy. Cuyambay around 6am. We registered first and had a quick orientation about the trail. At exactly 7am we started to ride a tricycle/motorcycle going to the jump-off point. We thought its going to rain because of the gloomy weather when we arrived at the Batangay, but we're very lucky indeed because when we reached the jump-off point, the skies started to brighten up.
At jump-off point. We started the hike at 7:30am. I'm very excited and can't wait to reach the famous Nagpatong Rock formation.
Its quite easy during the first part of the hike because its just walking and not so much ascending. As we continue, trees started to increase in numbers, shrubs blocked off our path and pathways became narrow. Little did we know that we have to climb on boulders of rock formations and that made it a little bit harder but I like the challenge of it. We took a little while reaching the base of the Nagpatong rock but worth the experience.
We're almost at the top after 1 hour and a half but we still need to wait for the other group to finish their photo ops, we took some photos first at the base of Nagpatong rock and had a little snack/water break.
We're finally on the top! Good job Toni for conquering his first mountain! It's actually a little bit hard because it requires high endurance of your body especially to the part where you need to climb some rock formations. We're lucky that out tour guide really helped us to get through those sharp rock edges.
It looks flat on top, right? but this is the actual look on top of it. This is said to be one of the most photographed features of Masungki, and the primary reason why hikers go here. We we're not able to continue the hike going to Mt. Masungki but we decided to go to the other mountain near Nagpatong rock. From here, you can also see Masungki Georeserve - I've been wanting to go there for so long but I'm still waiting for my other hiking buddies to go there. Now that we have different lives, sometimes it's harder even to catch up because we have our own work schedules now but I'm really looking forward to visit these two amazing places soon.
